Email from Councilman Charlie Riehm to Mayor and Council

Date: February 25, 2008

Susan <City Clerk> tells me this is being considered for a vote at the March 3, 2008 council meeting. I strongly object to this being on the agenda for next week.

It was introduced as a "Draft Sample" at the Policy Meeting, and as a copy of another city's ordinance. All I'm aware of is Jeff's look at several other large cities, and I think we should be very careful as to whether and how this approach applies to Norcross, as exemplified by Joe's <city attorney Joe Fowler> attached note. Since we have not seen a draft of a Norcross ordinance, I don't think this issue qualifies for consideration at a council meeting yet. The issue is too important to rush through without some time for debate and public input.

Respectfully,
Charlie Riehm
